It is powered by RGF’s proprietary REME ® technology, which combine a UVC light on an advanced catalyst to create low concentrations of gaseous hydrogen peroxide in the air that disperses throughout your space. So, the question arose as to how we could replicate and enhance these naturally occurring air purification processes in an indoor environment. The adage that sunlight is a great disinfectant is true in several ways: its ability to create hydrogen peroxide and release it into the air, and the UV properties of sunlight help eliminate microorganisms outside. Really my most important question, is this aluminum evaporator coil really so porous that it cannot be, you know. The inventors in our research and development department are constantly studying the environment and the science behind naturally occurring processes. It claims to kill germs in the air and on surfaces with some tiny ppb of “ionized hydro-peroxides”, whatever that is, which sounds not realistic but if it is, do I want to breathe something that claims to kill the living cells it comes into contact with? There is one Amazon review that claims their sourdough starter died after having it installed, but it was a 5-star review and they were otherwise happy, so.□ There are lots of positive reviews saying it fixed everyone’s allergies and asthma sprinkled with a few negative reviews saying it emits an ozone odor and gave them headaches and sore throats. The tech said the drain pan/line is clean but due to the more porous/recycled aluminum used in newer evaporator coils they are prone to harboring the funk that causes this smell and for the low price of $1500 we could fix it for good with the REME Halo! My husband scheduled the install but I am the skeptical one and started researching. ![]() It was time for our annual AC checkup anyway, so we mentioned it. I have noticed it being a bit musty before but this is much stronger. ![]() With recent weather varying from cold in the morning to warm in the afternoon, we started getting the strong “smelly sock” issue when the AC kicks on. It has a UV light already that was installed along with the system. ![]() Our system is Bryant, about four years old.
